Hi-Fi Classics: Bought, Sold and Serviced in Charleston.
Receivers, amps, turntables and speakers from the golden years of Hi-Fi. Every piece we sell has been opened up, serviced and listened to before it goes out the door. We buy gear too, working or not, and take in repairs.
About the Shop
Sweeney Stereo Co. is a small shop in Charleston, South Carolina: Our owner Austin is on the buying, selling and listening side, and a full-time technician on the bench.
Between us we've spent years restoring and reselling the receivers, integrated amps, turntables and speakers that made the 1960s through the 1980s the golden age of home audio: Marantz, Sansui, Kenwood, Pioneer, McIntosh, Technics, Klipsch.
Everything we sell goes across the bench first. That means a full inspection, tired capacitors replaced, bias and DC offset set to spec, controls and switches cleaned, lamps replaced, and then hours of listening before it's photographed and listed. Each piece comes with an info sheet that spells out exactly what was done.
We buy gear as well as sell it, working or not, and we take in bench work from people who already own something worth keeping.
Need A Turntable Fixed?
Turntables go to SpinCraft Audio in Summerville, who do that work better than anyone in the Lowcountry.
Not sure what you need? Ask!
We'd rather match you with the right piece for your room and your speakers than sell you the most expensive thing on the shelf. Happy Listening!
